When the lights take over

Evening changes everything here. Daylight gives you a large, composed building. After dark, the energy gathers — purposeful, bright, unmistakably a destination. I walked the public spine and felt the property lean into its night self without apology.

The hotel floors kept a calmer register. That separation mattered.

The approach

Arrival is theatrical in scale. The approach opens wide. The entrance announces a resort that expects volume. First impression of the building: polished, confident, built for weekends that stretch late.

A minor note

Closet lighting in my room was mean. A small honest annoyance. Guests mention it too. I managed. It did not define the stay.

Outside, on foot

Stepping outside, the immediate surroundings feel set apart — resort grounds rather than a city block. On foot you read parking lanes, landscaped edges, the sense of a self-contained destination in the heart of this Ontario pocket. It is not a stroll of storefronts. It is the property holding its own perimeter.

Better than expected

The rooms surprised me with their generosity. Clean lines. Space to breathe. Guests call them big and well kept; my July night agreed. I had braced for something tighter. I was wrong.

Who I would send

I would send friends who want a polished resort evening with gaming and dining under one roof — and who sleep happily near that energy. I would not send someone seeking a hushed countryside inn with nowhere else humming after ten. Different travellers. Different nights.
